A toddler drowned Sunday afternoon after falling off a dock at a family cabin at Big Lake, Alaska State Troopers reported today.

Troopers identified the child as Liam Lloyd, 1 1/2 years old. The cabin is on an island on Big Island, but the dock isn't visible from it, troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said.

"When the parents realized the other didn't know where the child was they searched and found him in the water next to the dock," she said in an email. Maybe 15 minutes had passed since either had last seen him.

The parents, whose names weren't released by troopers, started CPR. Troopers got a call about an apparent drowning just after 3 p.m.

The parents took him by boat to the north shore of Big Lake where an Alaska Wildlife Trooper and two Coast Guard crew members attempted CPR until medics arrived The Coast Guard was at Big Lake performing safety checks.

The little boy was flown to Providence Alaska Medical Center but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, troopers said. Liam wasn't wearing a life jacket.

Troopers are investigating the incident but say no foul play is suspected.
